Shopping Before Your Trip
To the Island
There are several different ways to gather supplies for your trip to Upper Captiva. Although island dining options are delightful and you will really enjoy the local cuisines our four island restaurants have to offer, nothing is better than grilling at your seaside cottage, cooking up a storm at an island estate, or crafting culinary delights in a suberb gourmet kitchen with views of the beach or sound.
Here is what you need to get supplied up for all of your culinary arts... okay breakfast, lunch, and dinner even.
Having supplies pre-ordered and waiting for you at the house is by far one of the best services available on the island.
Many private vacation home managers offer this service to their guests. Vacation rental guests and residents alike can also enjoy the stocking services provided by North Captiva Island Club's "Sandie's Shopping Service"
Call Sandie for her fax info and to get set up for the delivery. Fax your order to Sandie at least 3 days prior to arrival and note the property for her team to deliver the order to. Call and confirm that they received your order so when you arrive it will already be delivered to your home.
Not only does this service proivide grocery pick up, she can shop for all the items you need for vacation or extended island stays. Just let them know you specific needs and they can pick up for you.
The cost for the shopping service is 40% of whatever products/goods are being delivered. And if you take passage to the isalnd aboard the propietary Island Club Boat, your fee is just 28%.
For us, it is far better to opt for this method of supplying your vacation retreat. It just makes it a real vacation! And, you'll find that the taxi fare's extra fees for stops to pick up supplies, plus the 10% Publix adds to pack supplies per your order, plus the price for coolers, dry ice, or ice... it all ends up about equal... so enjoy your chilling beverages in the fridge upon arrival if you you choose this available service.
Our local Publix market offers a packing service that allows you to send them your order via fax and they shop and pack it up for you. The grocery order is ready and waiting for you to swing by with the taxi and pick it up.

Call them for thier fax info ant to set up your order. Always confirm any faxed in order to make sure the supplies you need are ready when you arrive at the shop.
The cost for this service is 10% of the grocery order plus the cost of ice, dry ice, and coolers. We always suggest that you choose the Publix cool bags for your cool items - it's cheaper than styrofoam coolers and the coolers can't be recycled off the island. The bags are a way greener option.
If you are on-island with a small group, by yourself, or for very few nights, you may want to make the stop at the local shops and just pick up what you need on your way to the marina without ordering ahead. Just leave travel time, time to shop, and plan to be at the marina or car parking areas at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled boat departure.
North Captiva Island Club Resort's ferry, the Just for Fun, runs a weekly shopping trip to Pine Island for groceries. Hop on board and take the ferry to the mainland, board their shuttle van to get right to the local Winn Dixie Supermarket.
Local shops on Upper Captiva Island present wonderful opportunities to explore local crafts and flair.
